CSPD Partners with Make-A-Wish

This year, the CSPD supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut through participation in the Children’s Dental Health Month Fundraiser organized by the Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentistry Fundraising Committee.  Approximately $6000 was raised and 15 offices participated.

The Board of the CSPD chose to support this cause based upon the results of the vote taken at the annual November meeting. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is committed to making the dreams of sick children come true, providing hope and joy to these children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

According to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut:

If you could have anything in the world, go anywhere, be or do anything, or meet a celebrity… What would you choose? Where would you travel? What would you become? Who would you meet?

Children with life-threatening medical conditions are energized by these questions, and the possibility and realization of their dreams. Children imagine, describe, plan, anticipate, and eventually rejoice in the fulfillment of their wish.  By demonstrating that a wish can come true, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut encourages children to envision a positive future and to remain an active partner in treatment.

Wish-come-true experiences provide hope, strength and joy during uncertain times. Each wish is as special and unique as the wish child who dreams it. It’s an incredible experience that enriches not just the lives of the children and their families, but often an entire community.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions. The promise of a wish gives a child hope, the support of a community gives strength, and the realization of a dream-come-true gives pure joy.  With the average cost of a wish being $8,500—special friends like you help make magical wishes come true across Connecticut!

Thank you to all of our members who supported this worthy cause.

Sincerely,

Ira Greene

A little fluoride goes a long way to fight tooth decay. In 2006, however, the American Dental Association, which has long trumpeted the benefits of fluoridated drinking water, issued an alert urging parents to steer clear of fluoridated water when preparing infant formula - especially bottled water marketed for babies.
