| The Village for Families & Children, Inc. was chosen for the second year in a row as the beneficiary of the Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentistry's (CSPD) annual fundraiser to commemorate February's National Pediatric Dentistry Month. This year's fundraiser collected over $4,000 dollars for the Village's Home Away from Home Champions for Children Bicentennial Campaign renovation project. Participants who contributed a minimum gift of $5 to the CSPD fundraiser were entered into a raffle to win an American Girl Doll or a Nintendo DSI Gaming System. Congratulations to the two lucky winners!
The village's residential programs create a safe, home-like therapeutic environment for children with severe emotional and behavioral problems, many of whom have been removed from their homes and families due to neglect and/or abuse. Approximately 150 greater Hartford children are served by the residential programs each year.
CSPD, comprised of 87 Connecticut pediatric dentists, represents the specialty of pediatric dentistry in Connecticut and is dedicated to education, practice and research. The society works as a liaison with other health care organizations, government entities, and private agencies concerned with the dental health of children, adolescents, and individuals with special health care needs.
The Village for Families and Children, Inc. has been serving children and families in the greater Harford region since 1809. A preeminent not-for-profit mental health/human services agency in the State of Connecticut, the village continues its commitment in building a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children. The agency's community-based services are comprised of three core programs: Placement and Permanency (adoption, foster care and family preservation), Treatment, and Family and Community Support.
